Our family campground story

Our opportunity to host you started back in the early 2000's when there was nothing but dirt, brush and the trees here.

A colleague of my Father told him that he had some bare land that he was looking to trade over in central Oregon, and what he wanted was our family vehicle. An old FJ-40 Land Cruiser that was rebuilt from pick-n-pull yards. Even though it was a super sweet ride, my dad and brother, who was just Pre-school age at the time, headed over East to check it out to contemplate the offer. They walked around where they thought the property lines would be but the ultimate decision and responsibility was given to my little brother. After as much thought a 4 year old could, "Yeah, we should".

For the first decade we came over in tents or the motor home. We loved going out to the reservoir and the surrounding hikes, just taking in the beauty. Smith Rocks and Chimney Rock have always been our go-to hikes.

Spring break of my sophomore year we came over and built 'The Yurt' and that was where all us kids and friends stayed while parents slept in the campers. Years later we placed the cabin down to have more friends join us that didn't have camping gear. Then in 2021 we had all the rock for the paths delivered and BOY I TELL YA, it is so nice not having solely dirt everywhere.

Changing of the Guard

Then in 2022, after decades of talking about opening it up and turning it into a Private Campground, I was given ownership of our family site to cut the 'red ribbon' and begin the hosting experience for others to enjoy!

Whether you are experienced campers and lover of the outdoors, or just want to get out of town and need a place to go, we've loved our little site and hope you do too!
